島唄 - “Shima Uta” by The Boom (song title aka “Okinawa”)

This song just moves me.

Everytime.

Even though I don’t understand a word of what’s being sung.

I don’t have formal music training. I’m not sure what’s the musical notation behind the notes they play. A friend once told me they play similar notes like Balinese Gamelan. I don’t know.

All I know is that the song moves me.

For some reason.

Maybe one day I’ll be able to assimilate the distinctiveness of what makes this song so moving, and incorporate into a musical piece.

Maybe.
